Chase Weston are pleased to partner with an established, global Life Science leader with increasing demand for their portfolio within the In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) industry. Our client is looking to hire a Vice President R&D, based in California, USA.

The chosen candidate will be responsible for leading the entire North American R&D department to help fulfil its annual targets and drive the development of an exciting new product portfolio designated to the Molecular Diagnostics Field.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and nurturing global R&D projects through the development phase and transferring developed and enhanced products to the testing laboratory
  • Closely collaborating with the regional Lab Directors, in house scientists, Global Scientific Director and other scientific staff
  • Responsible for recruiting, leading and motivating the National & International R&D teams
  • Managing internal projects and overseeing new product development
  • Ensure rapid response from development phrase to laboratory testing
  • Oversee vigorous testing samples to support the launch of approved COVID-19 testing kits
  • Conducting and overseeing all company research and development training’s
  • Evaluating assay methodologies and emerging technology
  • Part of the global leadership team, reporting directly into the Global Senior Vice President
  • Developing new assays to improve current workflows and introducing new applications
  • Performing and delegating tasks and projects across R&D

 

Credentials:

  • PhD or Masters within the relevant scientific field of In Vitro Diagnostics is required
  • 7+ years post-doctoral experience preferred
  • Prior research experience in molecular techniques, including point care testing
  • Track record in training and developing scientific staff
  • Past exposure to test submission and documentation for 510k or IVD
  • Extensive Hands on experience with Next Generation Sequencing required
  • Experience in HLA testing or bioinformatics is advantageous
  • Assay design expertise
